We've received a number of inquiries regarding a Windows Mobile version of the 1337pwn XBOX Live Friends List. The simplified browser version available here works fine on Windows Mobile.

It's nowhere as slick as the iPhone version, but it gets the job done. If you're running Skyfire, we've heard reports that the iPhone version runs like a champ in that browser.

At this time, we're not developing a native Windows Mobile application, but we might be persuaded given sufficient demand.

Earlier today, I learned that GamePolitics.com is more than just a great site. The person who operates the site is also happens to be a constituent of mine in Doylestown Borough! I check the site daily and anyone involved in video games and politics should do the same. Great stuff.

Going Native: The SDK

Yes, we're working on a native version of the 1337pwn XBOX Live Friends application with the release of the iPhone SDK. We won't be releasing functionality and/or screenshots until you can actually install and download it yourself. Why the secrecy? We're working to make it something "special".

1337pwn XBOX Live Friends for iPhone/iPod Touch

Users of our iPhone/iPod Touch XBOX Live Friends list application have likely noticed a number of nifty updates. We've been polishing the application and including useful new features. Recent fixes and updates include the following.

• Retail Box Art is now available under game details


• Current Popularity Index has been changed to improve readability


• Locations are now hyperlinked to the Google Maps application


• Cosmetic improvements to gamercard and game info


• Halo 3 text is now hyperlinked to iHalostats.com player information


• Bookmarking a gamer or game now includes an appropriate icon for your home screen


• Recent games list has been improved and is no longer limited to 16 games going forward


• Problems related to strange game characters have been fixed

As you've seen over the last week, we have added quite a bit of depth to the application. From the display of recent games to game details, we have responded to your feedback and will continue to do so. We are really proud of the application and are committed to ongoing improvements and new functionality.

Current Popularity Index

The 1337pwn iPhone/iPod Touch XBOX Live Friends List now includes an interesting enhancement on the Game Detail page. At a glance, you can now see the popularity of a given game in our user community of thousands. The "Current Popularity Index" uses our millions of gamer data requests to let you know whether or not a game is "hot".

To check it out:
1. Touch the gamer pic of any gamer on your friends list
2. Touch any game icon on their list
3. You'll now see details of the game including the CPI and friends that have been playing the game

1337pwn XBOX Live Friends Update

We have updated the 1337pwn XBOX Live Friends application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The new version incorporates updates to the Gamer Detail screen as well as new Game Detail screen. If you already bookmarked the application, you will get the updates automatically.

1. Friends List
Tapping on a gamerpic or recent game will display the Gamer Detail screen for your friend.



2. Gamer Details
The Gamer Detail screen displays detailed information and recent games. Tapping on the "gamercard" portion at the top of the screen will take you to their XBOX Live profile. You can compare achievements by tapping on the gamerscores. Pressing the game icon will display the Game Detail screen. You can even send a message via XBOX Live using the link provided at the bottom of the screen.



3. Game Details
Now, you can see which of your friends has played a particular game recently. You can compare achievements by tapping on the gamerscores. Pressing on a gamerpic will allow you to see details for that gamer.

Note to Microsoft: This is functionality that should be built into the 360 dashboard.

The Current Popularity Index gives you an idea of a game's current popularity. It's based upon number of recent players and utilizes on a scale of 0-1000. The hotter the game, the hotter the index color.
